Hi,

I notice that when using my iMac under OSx it gets hot to touch. Swapping to windows 7 I see the CPU is at 75C, and the GPU is at 70C!!

Under Windows for "Day to Day" operations I run the fans at 2000 2000 and 1500 and this gives 50C on the i7 and 45C on the ATI.

When running an Overclock of 1075/750 I increase the fans to 2300 2300 1800 and the GPU never goes over 67 Degreees.

Is it normal that Mac OSx runs at such high temperatures? I don't like heat and don't care about fan noise, so just always run with the fans on a big higher under windows, but I was really surprised by 70C on the GPU idle!

Any comments and advice is welcome. Is there a MacFan app for the Mac OSx too?

Sorry man, should have googled it.

smcFanControl lets the user set the minimum speed of the build in fans. So you can increase your minimum fan speed to make your Intel Mac run cooler. However in order not to damage your machines smcFanControl doesn't let you set a minimum speed to a value below Apple's defaults

I guess it's safe to say I am not the only one who thinks that maybe "Style & quiet" are less important than "Safe and cool!!!"

Thanks for the link, that's getting installed straight away! :apple:
