Hi there

i am about to push the buy button on a 2020 27" iMac. I have most of the specs and upgrades sorted but i am debating whether to get the 512, 1tb or 2tb ssd

I would like to run bootcamp for mainly games and then the mac side mostly for office and general use work

My question is what so people think a good size to do this with would be, my general thinking is 512gb would be to small for this type of system so am mostly debating on either 1 or 2 tb, i know you can also use external drives for this but has anyone any thoughts on what is a good size to get for this type of setup as it cant be changed after

thanks

Have a 1TB internal SSD and use Bootcamp for some Win 10 light gaming. I have the internal drive split 650 MacOS, 350 Win10. But the Win10 partition filled up quickly with the size of games these days. So I added a USB3 Samsung T5 1TB external drive NTFS which I now install the games onto, which works fine. I also have a TB3 1TB external SSD for big media store using the MacOS I don’t want hogging the main boot drive. Keep working photo/video files on the boot drive. All works fine.

If you want it all internal as it can't be changed letter better to err on the side of getting too much than too little. If you plan on keeping the machine a long time you will need more space by the end of the time you use the machine than what you need now.
