I have just completed a graphics card replacement and added an SSD to a mid 2011 iMac 27". During the upgrade I accidentally released the stand bracket and it has now retracted inside the case. Everyone that I have spoken to says the only way to get the bracket back outside to re-attach the stand is to completely disassemble the whole PC to get to the attachment from inside the case (motherboard, logic board, power supply - everything!).
I have been able to hook some wire through the screw holes in the bracket however the bracket does not seem to want to release so that I can re-attach the stand. I have also looked at some sort of vesa mount but it would mean trying to screw the bracket to the case and that risks damaging internal components.
Any suggestions?
Happy to post photos if anyone thinks it would help

The stand is indeed not easy to fix. Check the "Apple Technician Guide iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011)".

Thanks - finally found what i needed:) I don't think I'll buy the part at the price they charge! I did find videos that show I was on the right track just need some stronger wire and extra pair of hands.
