I think I might be slightly over excited, don't care about the freezing issues as with every one of these problems it always seems to be a small number affected.

Can't wait until it arrives :D

Good luck. That's a nice puter. Keep us up to date on how it's running.

Good luck, I ordered one to (my first) and its on the truck to be delivered today...

I have been reading about the freezing, and it seems like almost everyone (one here) that uses WiFi gets it, so I am hoping that its either just people search out this site because they have the problem, or that I just get lucky.

With all the replacement iMac's having the same issue though...

I'm the same as you. Mine should be delivered today as well. I'm REALLY excited. I'm worried about the freezing issues but can live with ethernet for now as a temporary fix.

My replacement is due tomorrow. I too plan to try ethernet only to see if the freezing is gone. However, I can't stay that way too long. My wife does not want a 15 meter CAT cable strung through the house for very long. Wi-Fi has got to be fixed...if indeed that is the root cause.

Gratz! my 4850 iMac is on its way and scheduled for delivery tomm. Like some others, I ordered after the problem was reported but have faith it will be fixed in good time by Apple. Of course if I luck out and get a non-freezing machine that would be nice too :D

Bugger, just got an email in saying demand is too high and there'll be a delay until as late as the 11th :( surely they aren't selling THAT MANY fully specced (well almost, seriously, who's spendin another £800 on an additional 4GB of RAM?) iMacs?

Be happy, this may suggest that they are aware of the freezing problem, and that they are creating a firmware update that will fix the problem. They would delay your iMac so that they can do the update in the factory so that you don't call back to get an exchange...

But this is just a guess.

I got the exactly same email. Sounds odd that it would be because of demand, because Apple Store was showing 3-4 days shipping time. I did check and if you select GT 120 shipping is within 24 hrs and with 4850 now 7 business days.

Seems like a sure sign to me that iMac's with the ATi video chip are being fixed in the factory before they are shipped.

I just spoke to someone at the Apple Store over the phone and got a bit of a discount due to the delay :D

hmmm, it still hasn't shipped yet, if it hasn't shipped by this time tomorrow I think I might end up calling them and going balistic.

Mine hasn't still been shipped and there was only some promise that it would happen by the end of week. They are blaming a problem in production.

I think we are waiting for the same reason, because I'm also in Europe.

It's been a bit of a nightmare to be honest. The thing should have been out of China last week as it said 3 working days before shipment when I made the order (last Tuesday). They said the bank holiday would add a day (in China? I think not...), then there was the delay due to demand (must have been all the returns over the freezing issue) and now it's actually taken a day longer than it says in my order status.

Not impressed. Mind you, I don't have anything bad to say about any of the customer service reps I spoke to, they were all brand new.

...and it has shipped, due for delivery on Tuesday (12th, subject to change). Given a bit of luck it'll arrive on Monday.

Enjoy. I just got mine last week, same config with wireless network, mouse and keyboard. It's a classy machine; fast and quiet.:)

Mine got just the status Prepared for Shipment. It's now 8th business day since the order.

and just in case you guys didn't know. Most (85% + according to a poll on this site) have had the freezing issues fixed through a firmware update released by apple. So, freezing is a thing of the past!

I'm on the verge. I'm seeing the Apple store says "Ships: 2-4 business days".
What do you all think is really accurate at this point?

I ordered mine ( 3.06 1TB HDD 8GB RAM 4850) last Saturday. In transit to be delivered today. That was with overnight Fed Ex shipping keep in mind. All in all seeing as how Sat/Sun are not "business" days it took 5 days. At the time I ordered last Saturday it listed "ships in 5-7 days" and was spot on in my case - again I paid for next day Fed Ex shipping/delivery.

Now that the freezing issues are more or less solved they will start to have these machines more readily available and thus easier to get your hands on one quicker.
