Hi,

I recently came into ownership of a mid 2006 17" iMac (iMac 4,2) which I upgraded from a 1.83GHz Core Duo, to a 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo. I was hoping I would be able to run the Firmware upgrade tool from the Netkas forums and be able to utilize 4GB of ram in this machine, but the program refuses to launch since I have an iMac 4,2 (Mid 2006) instead of a 4,1 (Early 2006) that the upgrade tool was designed for.

Any spoofs you can think of to work around this? A way I can maybe change my model identifier, so the firmware upgrade tool will run? I would love to be able to install 4gb of RAM, and install Mountain Lion via MacPostFactor.

Any tips are appreciated. Thanks!
