Hi.

I'm thinking about buying a 21,5" iMac with the ATI 4670. I want as all-in-one computer and this includes gaming.

Can you comment how well or bad it is for gaming?

Just had an iMAC 27' for the past 2 weeks:
It has the 4670 chip.

2560x1440 is simply TOO much IMHO for any GPU.

1- Sims 3...ok at 1600x1200
2- Star Wars Force Unleashed..struggles at higher resolutions, very playable at 1280x800...or something like that.

Older games...like GTA, Unreal tournament, Bioshock etc...All run fine but NO WAY at 2560x1440. More like 1680x1050 MAX.

I believe the 4670 was running games around 10-15% faster than the 9600 in the old MBPs, which makes it comparable to the 330s in the new ones.

I'd have to check to be sure though. www.barefeats.com usually has data on all the GPUs.

I have the 21.5" 3.06 Core2Duo with the 4670 and i can play Star Wars:TFU at 1920x1080 fine and it looks no different than on my ps3 and Bravia.

I running the Windows version of the game in Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

I've played The Sims 3 on my iMac & yesterday it froze on me..& then crashed. Which was really really odd but I noticed that my iMac got super overheated.

Kind of sucked because I was really in the middle of some epic gold diggin'.

Starcraft II Beta runs pretty well but I hate playing games full screen so it's always windowed around 1280 by whatever. But I'm guessing you like to play games in full. Agh..I'm not contributing much to this conversation, am I? haha. Sorry :/
