iMac 5.2 - More than 3 GB of memory in Tiger or Leopard?

Does Tiger supports more than 3 GB of memory?

How about Leopard? Will it ever support more than 3 GB of memory?

I am planning to upgrade the memory but there's no point of upgrading to 4 GB if the OS does not support it?

I believe you're limited to 2 GB of RAM even on that Core 2 Duo iMac.

The limitation is with your iMac, not Mac OS X. The chipset in your iMac will only support up to 2GB of RAM and that cannot be changed at all. Its just a limitation of the computer.

Mac OS X version 10.4 and 10.5 will support many gigabytes of RAM. Since 10.5 is a 64 bit OS, it can truly support hundreds of gigabytes of RAM.

Core Duo/Calistoga iMac = 2 gb RAM max
Core 2 Duo/Calistoga iMac = 3.3 gb RAM max (2x2 gig sticks, but can take a 2 gig and a 1 gig for 3 gigs)
Core 2 Duo/Santa Rosa iMac = 4 gb RAM (and perhaps 8 gb RAM) max
