iMac and AppleCare

Does AppleCare for iMacs cover hard drive failure? I mean...I can understand terms and conditions being iffy for laptops, but most people with common sense wouldn't trash a desktop...would they?

AppleCare covers manufacturer's defects only.

Hard drive is covered, assuming it is the one that came in the iMac. Self-installed HD will not be covered.

As the others said, HD is covered, but your data is NOT. So make sure you do backups to an external drive or sync your docs to a "cloud" storage service.
