im thinking of getting an imac(when it updates) but looking at the specs as of now, it says it supports up to 1900x1200. does that mean it wont support its native resolution for a 30" cinema display?

an imac and a cinema display doesn't make much sense
but this was taken from apples page
System Requirements
Mac Pro, all graphic options
MacBook Pro
Power Mac G5 (PCI-X) with ATI Radeon 9650 or better or NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT DDL or better
Power Mac G5 (PCI Express), all graphics options
PowerBook G4 with dual-link DVI support
Windows PC and graphics card that supports DVI ports with dual-link digital bandwidth and VESA DDC standard for plug-and-play setup

you should look into a mac pro if you want the 30" or the 24" iMac if you can live with that

hrm

well here are my options:
24" imac (1700? possibly cheaper by ebaying)
and a 23" Cinema (400-500 used)

and the second one i have a question

is the quad core mac pro still up to par compared with 8core? (kind of a dumb question but making sure)
or even so, should i just stick with finding a Mac Pro Core2 Dual? cause the most ill ever be doing is photoshop, imovie(i know, lol.. its easy comn!), itunes/safari.. no 3d rendering.
and how much does the dual core mac pro's go for?

haha now that i think about it.. it is better to go with a mac pro and a 23"

does that mean it wont support its native resolution for a 30" cinema display?

No iMac can support the 30" Cinema Display's 2560 x 1600 native resolution.

The 30" Cinema Display requires a dual-link DVI video source, and the iMac's
mini-DVI port only supports single-link DVI. It has nothing to do with the size
of the internal display, or the capabilities of the GPU hardware. The mini-DVI
port simply doesn't supply the necessary signals:
