I've got a iMac G5 2.0 w/ 1 gig of Ram. This machine has performed flawlessly for about 2 years. About 2 months ago, I started running into odd problems, finally about 5 weeks ago, it wouldn't let me open any apps, when I restarted...well I got nothing but the blue screen and the start up spinning wheel. I reset pram, I Fsck'd, updated the permissions, verified the disk once I got in w/ my OS X disk. Finally I did an archive and install, and then updated to 10.4.8. Two weeks ago, it totally locked up on me, wouldn't even read the OS X disk. I took off the back and did an inspection and checked the 4 lights etc... I had to reinstall the OS again, I've since left it alone and am waiting for Leopard to arrive on Thursday.

Anyways, I'm wondering if it's not my Palm software that is the problem. I've got a Treo 680, ATT is coming to my town after Jan 1st, I'll upgrade to an iPhone then...When I use the cable to sync the Treo w/ the computer, my iMac won't sleep or restart because the transport monitor and some other Palm app won't quit. I have to force quit them everytime. This has gotten worse the more I've synced.

Does anyone else have conflict issues w/ Palm software and is there any other software to use to sync the Treo w/ my computers? Also, I sync w/ my Macbook through Bluetooth and don't have this problem...

I'm hoping the problem goes away when I do a clean reinstall of Leopard this weekend.

Any suggestions?
