Hi all
I've just bought a new 27" iMac. I have a 27" Apple Display which has a mini diplsay port connection on it. I bought a Thuderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter to use it with my new iMac as an extension screen. However it won't work! Is there another adapter I can use or is this screne now totally redundant? (I've checked the screen with an older Macbook and it works fine so I know there's no issue with the screeen)

Is it a Thunderbolt Display? There's a Macworld Article that goes into detail. For a bog standard Mini DisplayPort display I'd have thought a simple USB-C to Mini Display port would do the job.

Per the MacWorld article that sublunar mentioned, if this is an Apple Thunderbolt Display it should work with the Apple TB2 to TB3 adapter. The ATBD has two connectors at the end of the cable - a TB2/mDP and a MagSafe connector.

If this is an Apple Cinema Display (so not Thunderbolt), then you need to use a Mini DisplayPort to USB-C adapter and, again, the MacWorld article offers some suggestions. The ACD has three connectors at the end of the cable - mDP, USB-A and MagSafe.
