Hi,
I need some advice please.
I am going to purchase a refurbished iMac Aluminum (either 2.4 GHz or 2.8 GHz) from Apple. I have a budget though. I will be editing HD on Final Cut 6 and I am planning on getting a 1 TB external Hard Drive with 400 firewire. I will also max out the RAM at 4GB.
I have 2 really important questions about rendering speed and performance...
1- What would be the difference between using the iMac 2.4 GHz and 2.8 GHz?
2- What is the difference between using a 1TB hard drive with 400 firewire and 800 firewire?
Due to company budget, the difference is $800. and they don't want to go for that now and I want this computer so should I settle for the 2.4 with 400 firewire external HD...or wait for the other $$$ to come in to get the 2.8 with the 800 firewire external HD?
Thanks so much.
I went to the apple store and touched, played with and felt an iMac 2.4 GHz 24" monitor (nice) with Final Cut the other day. The rendering time wasn't too slow and this iMac only had 3G of ram in it and no external HD so the video was a little choppy. My intention is to hold all my media in the external HD and only put the applications/programs on the internal HD.
