iMac and widescreen crt tv

I'm thinking about connecting my new iMac to my widescreen crt tv. Has anyone done this? How's the result? I understand that I need the mini-dvi to vga adapter, does it work with a pal tv? does it support 16:9 ratio?

You'll want the mini dvi to composite video adaptor, not the vga

not really to do with the question. but if you are using a white imac make sure you put the crt on the left side, as my crt was broken by the magnet on the right.

There isn't a magnet on the new iMacs

The glass faceplate is held in with magnets.

I don't know if that'll make an impact but it's worth mentioning.
