I'm a rolling stone.
I am about to buy a new iMac here in Indonesia and I want to buy the applecare for it as well.
But,believe me,its more than double the price than in the states(Online store).
I checked yesterday at the estore here in Bandung(Java) and they said it'll cost me 3.500.000 which is 380 U$,Online together with the iMac it will cost only 169 U$.
Buying Online and send it to Indonesia is no option,if I would buy it with my Visa card(Dutch),they won't send it here and it could be "lost" as well.
Postal service is notorious bad here.
In a few months though I will travel to Singapore(visa) and I could buy it there.
Now,my questions.
How long after I buy a new mac will I be able to buy Applecare?
Is there any advise how I can tackle this problem?
Is the warranty worldwide,so if I buy in Singapore would it be valid in Indonesia.
Indonesia doesn't have an Apple site, the nearest by is Singapore.
I will be buying extra Ram in Singapore, its half the price there.
Strange thing though is that a new mac here is cheaper than in Singapore!
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Cheers Perry

I believe, apple care can be used world wide.

About the Ram, Im not quite sure where in Jakarta, its one of those computer or electronic complex that can sell a really cheap Ram compare with Singapore market.

I just read that people got into trouble with an Applecare plan bought i a different country than Indonesia.
I will just wait if somebody has experience with this.
Its just that 210 U$ more for just applecare is a lot.

While I cannot speak for Indonesia I bought AppleCare from L.A. Computer in the USA for my 24" iMac that I purchased from the online Apple Store in Japan. It worked perfectly. I registered it and now I have the full 3 years.

i really don't think you would have a problem purchasing it outside of Indonesia. This might be in the fine print but I don't think Apple is in the habit of enforcing it. There might have been other circumstances in the case you heard about.

Once purchased, for example, AppleCare provides warranty coverage for your Mac almost everywhere on earth.

I found out that I could buy iMac applecare for about 185 U$ in a different place, that already makes a huge difference.
Also, macs are cheaper there then in the estore shop, they are really expensive.
Yes,I found out it should be valid in most countries so I won't have any prblems later.
Thanks for your help,greatly appreciated.
