Hi, I've been thinking of getting a MBP for a long time now, however now I am instead considering an iMac (27 inch) instead. The main reasons is because of the memory etc, but not only that but if I got a MBP I would just want a TV for my bedroom not long after it. So anyway I thought an iMac would be a good idea, the problem is I have a box room and their isn't enough room for a desktop and a TV. So I was wondering, is there a way I can connect my Sky+ (not HD) and my Xbox 360 up to an iMac 27 and use it as a TV display aswell?

I can't remember the name of the device I've been told is good, but there are boxes that will convert a HDMI signal to the DisplayPort needed for the iMac. As you don't have a Sky HD box, I'm not sure if you have the HDMI output but if you do it's certainly worth googling around.

The price I saw online was $100-120 or so, so you can probably estimate about £80 or so over here. Cheaper versions might exist too.

if you only want to watch sky there is a easy solution
all you need is broadband
and the microsoft silverlight plugin for your browser
and get a normal usb receiver from elgato if you got a dish

and if the xbox can connect to a tv not using scart (dont know anything about consoles and their connection possibilities ) it should be possible to connect it to the elgato thing too or through another one from elgato they have different types for different inputs
