I have this old Imac 27" late 2009.
Actually I have 2.

On one of them I would like to have windows and only windows.

I have tried a dual boot solution, but my windows partition seems to fail after some months.

is it possible to use a imac as a windows pc without any MAC OS installed?

When I google on this it seems not to be possible.
The reason is that a MAC uses EFI bios.

But maybe someone in here has tried :)

I have a late '09 27" i5 doing this exact thing, it had Win8 on it and now Win10. Get your Bootcamp drivers downloaded to USB drive, start the entire bootcamp process as you normally would except when you reboot into the Windows setup disk, delete all partitions down to one partition then format it to ntfs and let the setup disk continue.
You'll have nothing but Windows and a fresh install.

You can always re-add OS X later if needed through internet recovery but be prepared to lose the Windows partition in the process.

On the newer MAC without a Superdrive installed you can use a Windows USB install drive and skip the entire bootcamp process.
If you have a USB install drive just plug in the drive and press Option after the chime and boot directly to the USB drive and delete all partition and format to NTFS and go straight to Windows.
Be sure to have a Bootcamp USB drive handy for your particular computer if you want to skip using BootCamp to start the install.

Windows 7 and later can be installed in UEFI. You will be fine. You will need the Bootcamp drivers either before the install or after the install.

Nice nice... I will try that :)

Funny that I could not find any on google that have had succes with this.

Only lot of people sayng it is not possible

Awesome Thread given I was curious about the samething only with a late 2010 iMac.

This worked on all of my Superdrive iMacs, I have a 2009, 2010 and 2011 and now a 2012(which doesn't come with a SD) strictly running Windows 10.

I have done like this.

diskutility:... 2 partions. My mac and a new one for windows Fat 32 (could only choose several mac partions and one fat).

Bootcamp: boot on my windows 7 CD
Deleted all and created 1 big partion on 1 TB.
Installed windows on this...

All was fine until I got the black screen...which I know from earlier when I had dual boot.

The problem should be atikmdag.sys which has to be deleted.

But since I have no MAC partion anymore how do I get into imac and delete this file?
have tried with windows CD and safe mode. But gives error.

Any idea...maybe some tool to boot up on like paragon in the link.
But it's a DMG file I get when I download.
Can I boot from that?
