I'm hoping this is the last question I have to ask before taking the plunge into owning a mac.
At the moment I use my pc as my media centre. It is hooked up through my LCD tv through the HDMI and through my surround sound system. My plan would be to do the same with the imac is this possible?
Thanks for answering.

Yes, you can.

For video, you'd need the mini-DVI to DVI adapter from Apple, then a DVI to HDMI cable to your TV.

For Dolby Digital and DTS (5.1) passthrough, you'd need an optical cable with a mini-plug on one end for the iMac's audio port. Of course, your receiver/amp must have an available optical input.
