Hello everyone, I've been working on a 2009 iMac a1312 that kept freezing up after I would install an OS. I had to transport the iMac and when I plugged it up again, there were no signs of life. I narrowed it down to the power supply and bought a new one and swapped it in. Right after I swapped it, the iMac fans started spinning and I heard the chime. However, after I put the screen back on and powered it up, the fans would spin up for a second but the computer would not boot. Now the computer is back to as lifeless as it was before not doing anything when I hit the power button. Anybody else had an issue like this or any tips to try? Thanks in advance!

I have but not since before the power supply issue. I haven't been able to get it to boot again.

Try this:
Install back the old PSU.
Remove the MXM graphic card and boot again.
I assume you will hear the chime and fans spinning normally.
But without the graphic card, you will see nothing on the display. You can check the iMac IP address on the router homepage, or remote log-in the iMac if you know how to do so.

If that is the case, then you can change another graphic card to revive your iMac.

My iMac 2009 A1312 once got the similar issue: It booted to 70% of the progress bar and hang there forever. (High Sierra). I fixed it by replacing the graphic card.

If that is not the case, meaning your iMac is still dead, then it's time you can retire it.
