Imac boot time with SSD

Hi, I have a new version of the imac 27" 2.93 with a 512 SSD and 2TB HDD. I have has it since august and I love it. The one thing is I am borrowing my brothers MBP I think it is the past model 2.8 C2D and I have noticed that the MBP botts faster than my imac even my old 24" imac boots faster than my new one. This should not be since I have a SSD as my boot drive right? There are not any programs that boot automatically what else could be causing the slow down?

you do have two drives in the iMac. the other pieces of gear have 1 hdd.

when you boot do you go to preferences then startup drive then pick the ssd?

if not what is happening is the iMac has to look at both drives and decide which one to use.

yes but The OS is only on the SSD and that is the boot drive. The only thinfg on the HDD is my itunes library

Having more RAM can slow down boot time. Basically the more you have the longer it can take. Try opening several applications at once from the SSD then the HD on another Mac and watch the speed difference.

No, that's not normal.
