I don't know if this is a problem, but this has been bugging me for a few weeks.

As soon as I wake the computer up from sleep, I'll open up some applications and some will take 2-3 bounces, some 4, some 1 bounce and the internet also doesn't work right away when I wake it up from sleep.

8-10 seconds later, every app will open in one bounce and the internet works perfectly.

What could be the reason for that? Is there something in the settings to fix that?

Sounds like you're not giving the hard drive enough time. You can try fixing disk permissions under disk utility to see if that makes it snappier, but the most obvious fix would be to get an SSD.

I would most likely buy a ssd if the installation was easy as installing ram. I seen youtube videos on installing a ssd, and it doesn't look like something I can do myself without causing damage to my imac.
