Hello

I recently ordered the iMac 24 inch to work alongside my 2018 Macbook Pro. It is a BTO spec and is coming between 22nd Oct - 1st November 9- I just wondered if there is much likelihood of it arriving earlier than the stated timeframe? Not that I am excited or anything 😃 (it will be my first desktop Mac for years after quite a few Macbook pro models).

Would be really interested to hear if anyone has ordered a BTO and had it arrive early. I'm in the UK.

Thanks :)

My experience is that if you track the progress, nothing happens, then it moves very quickly, then it seems to get stuck for the longest time, then almost when you have given up hope it moves very quickly again. Also the progress of your iMac is completely different from others, with a wide range of delivery durations and routes with no apparent logical reason. A squirrel is more predictable. There will be others that order after you, but receive before you, and vice versa.
So it can be somewhat frustrating and stressful tracking the progress. All I can suggest is do not judge your delivery date by the delivery speed of others

I noticed that Apple took my money this morning - YAY! and moved to 'preparing to ship'. This afternoon it then moved to 'shipped' - even bigger YAY as I thought it might arrive tomorrow. However, if I look on my App it doesn't give a date but does have a tracking number that isn't with UPS yet. On the Apple website though it shows that the iMac will arrive on Monday 25th.

So a couple of questions - I'm in the UK - if Apple are using UPS does this mean that the iMac is coming from the US? Is there any chance I will see an earlier delivery or is the website likely to be accurate? Whenever I've ordered from Apple shipping has ended up being the next day so I got ultra excited 😃 any thoughts to calm me down (or excite me) would be very welcome.

Apple does have a manufacturing facility in Cork, Ireland and Intel iMacs are manufactured there, but not sure if they also do M1.

UPS' European hub is in Cologne, France so if it is coming from the US, it might go from their eastern US hubs to Cologne and then on to the UK. Or it might go direct to the UK. You'll just need to follow the UPS tracking (it usually updates within 24 hours of the first notice).

still not had any updated details but if I click on shipment UPS are showing that they are awaiting the order now and that the label has been printed from Ireland - so I am hoping it will arrive in the Uk earlier than the 6 days quoted on the website (keeping everything crossed)

Thanks CWallace - I am hopeful that it looks like it is coming from Ireland - it's just been updated and now the shipping label mentions Ireland. I just thought Apple's "delivery date' which mentions the 25th October would be accurate but perhaps 🤞 UPS might give me a better and more accurate date.

Literally just had a message from UPS to say coming on Thursday 21st - so all looking very positive 🤞🏻🤞🏻

My first almost maxxed out 8TB iMac came from Ireland to the US last year. But someone stole it recently this year. So, I’m going to Europe to purchase another one for over £6,000 this year. I hope that they still make them there. I’m sure it will ship pretty quick depending on the location.

Just out of curiosity - did it arrive on the 21st? Your original post said that the projected delivery window was between Oct 22 and Nov 9 (or 1st?). It sounds like you probably received it just about when Apple estimated at the time of order.

My custom M1 iMac arrived a week before Apple said it would (I’m not complaining) and appeared to come from Ireland.

When I bought a custom MacBook Pro back in 2017 it also arrived a few days early and shipped via a whole bunch of exotic places I could only dream of visiting. It spent a day or two in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
