I'm getting a 24" iMac (2.8Ghz, 4 gigs RAM, 500 GB HD), and after reading the posts about screen damage, have become worried about the health of my iMac. I'm a college student, and find myself moving around alot... so I'm worried that it'll get damaged in transit.

Does anyone know of a good case for the iMac 24" that won't break the wallet? I'm really worried about damage... How's the iLugger?

How about the original box and packing material that came with it? The iLugger was around $500 IIRC.

The iLugger runs for $150 USD. I'm not a fan of using the original packaging -- I'd have no place to store it in the dorm room. At least with the iLugger -- I can store it in the litle space I have in the dorm.

Right now, the iLugger is the most logical for me to see. I'd REALLY get a Pelican case if I could, but 500 bucks for a case is a really steep.

Sorry, my mistake. I was thinking of the Pelican, which you have already checked out. Just treat it very gently, however you decide to make it portable. I moved around a lot with a PC before and was able to manage it successfully by being careful.

i have an imac and also in school. When traveling home for long breaks, I just wrap a towel around it and put it laying down in the back seat of my car. And then I have my laundry basket on the floor incase of sudden stops... I had it about a year and half and all is ok

Excellent. I do the same with my current monitor. I can't wait to order it in the morning...

Wow ... they sell a $215 Pelican case for $495.

I guess the figure it's worth the extra $280 to have them cut the foam!

See the $495 Pelican iMac case here .... ( look closely at the Model Number - see the numbers 1640 )

But the Pelican looks bigger than the original box!

iLugger

FYI, I am a rep. for a company and travel around 90,000 miles a year in my car. I carry my iMac 20" in an iLugger everywhere I go. I am on my second Mac with the same iLugger. I have never had any damage to my iMac while in the iLugger. I have had hotel doors slammed on it, fell over face down in parking lots, shopping carts rammed into it, in the rain, snow, sleet etc.. I am sure you get the picture.

iLugger best 100 bucks I ever spent! You will not be dissapointed!
:apple:

I suggest the iLugger. I traveled with the iLugger from state to state on an airplane. I tried carrying it on and surprisingly it fit as a carry on. No joke. It's a great product. I do suggest getting the RadTech ScreenSavrz and place it on the iMac before putting it into the iLugger. It'll help protect the screen from any scratches when placing and removing it from the iLugger.

I bought mine from MacSales.com a while back but they're prices were a bit cheaper than the makers' website. You could shop around and find the best prices but like I said before I highly recommend the iLugger.

Can someone post a few pics of their iLugger? I'd really like to see the 'insides' of one -- and iLugger.com fails to provide.

I'm thinking of getting one -- for safety of the iMac.

IS it really well padded? They say it is -- but sometimes advertising is hit or miss...

Thanks in advance!!!

Imac carrying case

I use an old gym bag. You get can them for a lot less in any size you want

I actually did end up going with the iLugger, and it's a savior when commuting two/from school. I recommend it to anyone who has to move their imac frequently.

Recently i get one from bigsoso.com and i have to say that im very happy with the product.

Good price and quality.
