Hello All,
I have an iMac Core Duo 2006 (the first intel mac)
I want to upgrade the wifi so that it will work with my time capsule (1st gen) 5ghz wifi network.

I was looking and there appears to be 2 options
1. Airport Extreme Card Model MA688Z/B
2. Airport Extreme Card Model BCM94321MC

Which of these will work ? and which is best ?
All advice very appreciated.

At the same time i will also be upgrading the HDD to 640GB Samsung Spingpoint F1.

just to get this straight you want to change the airport card in the imac itself?

hmm, well apparently it is possible (i had to do some serious googling to find reference to it)

the only thing i found discussed using the MA688Z/A or /B

so i would stick with one of those

where did you find them for sale?

also, you know you could get a wireless n dongle, several decent ones on newegg state they offer support for this

that would detract from the looks of the machine though

keep us updated :)

you can get the cards for sale on ebay.
Ive seen dissasembly videos and know the card is accessible, just wasnt sure which one i needed.

Im upgrading as my Time Capsule network runs on the 5ghz N only setting which is fine for my macbook and other windows laptop has has n spec wifi built in just causes problems as i have to run a 2nd device so my imac can get wifi on g.

My only other option is to replace my Time Capsule 500gb, Airport Extreme and Airport Express with the new dual band ones which would cost alot, cheaper just to replace wifi card in iMac.
