Hi Everyone,

There's a core i7 for sale at the Apple store - refurbished for 1849.00. I think the screen issues have been resolved (not sure exactly what the problem was) and that the refurbished macs come with the same one year warranty - but I'm still hesitant. My guess is any 27 inch refurbished imacs on sale are there because of returns for screen issues. It's a good discount though from the price for a new i7 - just wondering what everyone thinks. Is it better to spend the extra 230.00 for a new one?

Thanks.

I just purchased a refurbished Macbook Pro and love it. Can't tell the difference from new. If the iMac did have screen issues, it would have been repaired during refurbishing, and it has the same warranty(like you said) as a new one so to me it's a win win situation.

allmod -

There have been quite a few recent posts in this forum on people who have purchased the refurbished i7 iMac - my own included.

The refurbished machines come with the exact same warranty and exact same materials as a brand new machine. There is the possibility when purchasing a refurbished machine that you will receive a machine that has upgraded RAM or an upgraded hard drive.

As for the monitor issues - it is anybody's guess as to whether your machine (refurbished or new) will have monitor issues.

Purchase refurbished, or new, and there is a chance that you will receive a machine with defects. Such is the nature of a large electronic device.

Just received my refurb i7

No problems whatsoever. Slight yellow tinge but seriously I think some are over stressing the issue, unless theirs is worse ;) In fact, not sure I would ve noticed it without the grey bars test.

In fact, I just ran it with my HP 2338H and I noticed it had yellow tinge on the top lol ...sort of reverse of what the Imac is.

Colors are absolutely beautiful, and it's not like I spend half my day looking at blank grey screens!

P.S. Theres a lot more "artefact" distractions due to the glossy screen than there is because of yellow tinger!

Pulled the trigger

Well - I pulled the trigger, should arrive next week. I guess we'll see then. Thanks for all the comments!

Whatever Happened to the Man's Refurb Core i7 iMac?

Strange a story without an end... Either the guy is ecstatic, or maybe there was no story to begin with.
