I'm new to MacRumors and I was thinking of getting the new IMac (3.06GHz, 4GB RAM, 1TB Hard Disk, ATI HD 4850) using boot camp and I was wondering if there was any way to upgrade the CPU. Any ideas? Video tutorials would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance:cool:

searching the forum will bring up a number of threads about this.
Opinion is divided as to whether or not it's possible without a mess.
You'll lose your warranty if you do.
No videos since no one has shown they can do it.

If you are wanting to possibly upgrade in the future, you should "upgrade" now and get the i5. No one knows for sure if the CPU will be upgradeable, but theoretically yes it should be since it is socketed. The other issues are warranty and firmware.

Here are threads on the exact same topic as yours:

Upgrading iMac's CPU is VERY hard process. It'll void your warranty and there is a chance that the CPU you upgraded to won't work.

Get the best one you can NOW and don't worry about upgrading
