I am fairly new to Macs but recently I bought a secondhand iMac running on Leopard, around 6 years old, seems to be OK (I think) but the system crashes as soon as I attempt to log on to YouTube, I don't even get as far as the home page. Other sites seem to be OK.
Is the problem with my software or is it a hardware problem, or both?
Also, tried to download GIMP but nothing seems to happen when I click on the icon downloaded.
Any advice anyone?

Did you do a software update to the latest version of Safari? Also did you update to the latest version of flash? Older versions of Safari have problems with crashing on youtube.

Definitely update your OS using Software Update and update your Flash.

At the same time, see if you can get HTML5 on Youtube and see if that crashes it as well.

You Tube problem

Did you do a software update to the latest version of Safari? Also did you update to the latest version of flash? Older versions of Safari have problems with crashing on youtube.

I suspect that could be the problem as when I got the machine, the previous owner said that he had wiped the disc and reinstalled the original software (which is 6yrs old.)
Thanks for your help:)
