I was reading through the Newegg reviews and came across the iMac ones, and there were allot of haters in there bringing the overall score down on it. I frequent Newegg allot and have bought thousands of dollars worth of stuff from them. As far as service, price and speed Newegg is the best site to get your hardware or what not IMO.
I didn't buy my iMac through them, because I bought it on release day at an Apple store, but if they would of had it then I would of. Anyways I felt that it was getting the credit it deserved from Apple haters on the reviews, so I left my own and if you have an account on there you should do the same. I think the reviews on there are very important to a products reputation, I always go by what others think of a product, and their experience with it before I buy it. Here's what I left.
Pros: Very Fast, Super reliable, easy to use, very powerful. This machine is hands down the best computer I have ever owned. This is not coming from an email checker/web browser. I am a power user, I put this thing to work and it has never disappointed me. I can rip DVD's to it, stream a movie to my AppleTV from it, perform a time machine backup from it, and play WoW on it at 100% settings, all simultaneously with no hit in performance. My Vista based PC with the exact same specs could not do that if it's life depended on it.
Cons: Nothing absolutely nothing at all. Not for hard-core gaming get a MAC Pro if thats what you want it for.
Other Thoughts: I am a NetBackup Administrator and a SQL Server DBA at my work. I have worked with Windows based machines for about 15-20 years now. This is by far the best computer I have ever used. This thing does not degrade in performance like windows machines. I bought it in Aug 07 when it came out, and it has been running exactly the same since. No need for defrag, no spyware, no viruses. OSX is light years ahead of any MS OS out right now, as far as home based computing goes. If you want to get a computer that's going to degrade in performance and need a rebuild every 6 months, then go ahead and get a Windows machine. But if you are like me, and are sick of having to maintain your OS, spyware, viruses, and poor performance then look no further then right here. I still cannot believe that I have no spyware and virus scanning software on this for almost a year now, and have no problems what so ever. It really "Just Works".
