iMac data to MacBook Air via USB cable

Is it possible to transfer data from my iMac to my MacBook Air via a USB connection? And if so. . . How?

Not that I know of. Do you have an external storage device or could you connect the two Macs wirelessly and then transfer the data?

I think the only way is during the install of OS/X using target disk mode. Otherwise if you're talking about day to day file transfer the answer is no. It can only be done over Ethernet or WiFi.

Yes, it can be done.

You'll need a special cable; Google usb AND "file transfer".
