I am going to be buying an iMac 24” from Apple. I want to swap out the mouse for a trackpad. When I do this, the site prompts that I cannot pick it up in store anymore and will have to wait for delivery in 5 weeks.

Is that date reliable? All I’m doing is swapping the mouse with the trackpad. Any chance it could be delivered much faster?
If I just go with the default mouse I can pick up same day (SoCal), so that’s tempting.

Thoughts? Thanks.

FYI I ordered a new iMac on Sept 12 with an estimated delivery date of October 12-16. My new Mac came Oct 1. I am in the greater Boston area. Not sure of that helps but I would think it should come sooner.
YMMV

I guess if you're in a hurry you could try to sell the mouse on eBay or something and buy a Magic Trackpad separately. (Annoyingly, though, you'd get a trackpad in silver instead of one that matches your iMac.)

It is unlikely they need five weeks to put a trackpad into the box instead of a mouse. ;)

That being said, I am seeing delivery window of Oct 27-Nov 3 for all configurations and colors with no Apple Store pickup option at my primary store. Switching from Mouse to Trackpad pushes the delivery window to Nov 4-11.
