Imac disc drive mess up!!

Ok my iMac in my sig is what's giving me the issue. I was updating to 10.6.1 and i got a folder with a question mark symbol on reboot. So I tried reinstalling sl and nothing happens. Put the disc in and nothing happens. Is there a way to get the disc out at all? I tried the eject button on the keyboard. Any help would be awesome. Thank you so much

Press and hold the eject key, straight after powerup..
Eventually the disc will automatically be ejected.
