iMac doesn't recognize external drives, on 3/4 USB ports

Since updating to 10.5.7 my iMac has not been able to recognize external hard drives or flash drives on any USB ports except for the right most one on my iMac. Everything else works on those USB ports except for external drives.

Can you see the devices in Disk Utility?

Have you tried an SMC reset?

I can't see the drives in disk utility. I have tried SMC, it has not worked .
