Hello everyone,

I just got an apple Mini-DVI to Composite Video adapter, and it works great for TV-Out. One thing i noticed however is that expose performance and dashboard performance both suffer when the second display is connected. Is there any way to force Dashboard and Expose to only display on the one monitor, or is there a way to disable the second display when it is not in use? Thanks in advance for all the help!

PS: Mirror display won't work as the two screens (TV and iMac) are different resolutions.

I'm guessing it has to do with the fact thats its a TV. It's been a few years since I was deep into HW at this level but my best guess is that if the iMac is waiting on frame flyback or some other refresh signal from your TV then it could quite possibly slow down the whole system. How this would make itself more apparant in Expose/Dashboard, I don't know, I'd expect a complete slowdown.

Conversely, I have an external HD monitor (1440x900 @ 75hz) connected to my 24" Al-Imac with no issues.

I don't believe you can turn off Expose/Spaces/Dashboard on a per monitor basis, but someone else will either be able to confirm or deny this.
