Just got my 27" I7 iMac yesterday. I setup a 24" cinema display as a second monitor just fine, but I have a couple questions that I would appreciate some help.

1) My desk sits with the right side against the wall and I want the iMac to be to the far right and the cinema display on the left. However if I set the orientation that way in setting then the dock goes over to the cinema display. Is there a way to make the dock stay on the iMac.

2) The dual screen mode is nice. However, the cinema display goes blank when I load WOW in full screen on the iMac. Is there a way to still access the other screen to monitor email, etc while playing WOW?

Thanks for any help.

1) In Sysytem Prefs->Displays->Arrangement you can drag the menu bar from one screen to the other, the dock will follow.

2) No

The Dock is on the display where the Menu bar is, or have you dragged the Menu Bar to the ACD?

Many have the same issue, but as WoW is a full-screen application, it currently is not possible, as far as I know.

Thanks for all the advice. This is what I have figured out.

1) I think because I keep the dock on the left side of the screen when I have the cinema display set to the left it moves the dock all the way to the left of the cinema display. If I set it to the right I can have the dock where I want it but have to move the mouse out the right side of the screen to get the the cinema display. Unfortunate, but I guess I understand the thought. Just wish I could grab the dock and move it.
** The top menu bar always stays on the iMac so that doesn't fix it.

2) Changing the video in WOW to windowed full screen doesn't seem to effect the game at all, but it does allow me to use the cinema display like I want to. Hope that helps anyone interested.

If anyone has any ideas about getting the dock on the left I would appreciate it.

You CAN have it the way you want it. In System Prefs->Displays->Arrangements move the two blue rectangles so they represent how your monitors are physically positioned.

After you have done that, drag the white bar that is on one of the blue rectangles to the rectangle that you want to host the dock.

I tried what you said and understand it. I have the cinema display to the left of my iMac. I have the dock on the left of my iMac. If I put the arrangement so that the settings know that the cinema display is on the left then the dock goes with it which makes sense since it is acting as an extension of the iMac screen. My white bar at the top is always on the iMac. I moved it to the cinema display and then back again, but the dock does not come with it.

I think the only way to fix the arrangement is to either have the dock on the cinema display to the left or somewhere other than the left side of the iMac.

yyou want your dock in the middle of your big virtual screen! :/

I do not believe that is possible sorry dude! Why cant it just be on the tright of the imac?!

Ah, I see now.

No, you can't have the dock on the left hand side of the right hand screen (or vice versa) since this is technically the middle of the combined screen display.

You can have it at the left edge of the left screen, the right edge of the right screen, or at the bottom of either screen.
