iMac dual screen?

So I'm hung inbetween getting a macbook pro or a iMac, Because the imac is so much cheaper I'm thinking about getting an extra display for it if I go that direction. Are you able to run dual screens or do they just mirrior what you have on the screen alredy.

With the Intel iMacs you can run dual screens but with the PPC ones you can only mirror unless you use this.
