Hi all,
Ok, my iMac is already 10 years of age - a early 2008 model. So far it worked great for all these years, but all of a sudden, the screen shows a weird error on the left top side. During booting, it flickers orange/white for a couple of seconds. Afterwards, the screen is gray again with large white rectangle on the top left side showing coloured dots.

Here a DL link with a short clip showing the flickering (hopefully the link works):

The usual boot bar (usually in the center of the screen) is on the right side, it progresses, but eventually doesn't really boot up. It stays in the mode, while the screen flickers every minute or so.
Question: what can be the problem here? Graphics card, the display or something else? The 4 green LED's at the bottom side are all green.

Thanks for any help!

John

Problem solved. It was the Nvidia GPU.
I did disassemble the iMac and heated up the GPU for ~5min to 220°C.

Now all works fine again :)
