It tends to do that . You should generally have at least 2 GB of ram in your mac minimum. Leopard (and Tiger) like to eat unused memory; that doesn't mean that they're using everything they consume, some might become "inactive." You know you have a memory problem when istat reports more than 0 page outs (when it uses the hard drive for extra memory).
