iMac. Erased everything.

i have really messed up. I have a Mac that was having issues with logging In. I tried safe mode. that didnt help. So I went to the disk utility. I some how ended up erasing everything. I can no longer start up my Mac normally. It automatically starts with MacOS Utilities. I tried to reinstall mac OS but it says my os x is locked. I'm at a loss. I don't have the funds to take my computer in to get fixed. As anyone had this happen? I'm in tears. my life was in this computer. No. I don't have a time machine. Any advice?
