I have a MacPortable. Pretty much Mint condition. Battery is shot and can't buy replacement. I know there is a hack to use a similar battery but I'm at the age that I don't tinker much anymore. My last laptop is a MBA 2017, and a new MBA 15" M2 for my wife. For me the iMac was the evolution of the 512k 1984 AIO Mac. So in my mind I include that Mac as part of the list.

It’s interesting how long the price of the iMac was set around $1299 US. In real world terms adjusting for inflation the cost of the iMac actually went down over the years even as newer versions were introduced.

An iMac for $1299 US in 1998 is equivalent to about $2400 and change today. Wild.

When the next gen 32" 6K panel parts drops to ~$500 then we will see a ~$2k iMac 32" 6K M4 hopefully 10 months & 3 weeks time.

To repeat this is NEXT GEN and not 2019 model.

You wouldn't know it based on the jokes, but Apple actually tends to keep their pricing for Macs pretty consistent in terms of dollar figure, at least in the US. Generally comparable models stay at around the same price for long periods of time.
