My imac17 inch suddenly froze. the fan runs very loud, blowing air, and the display went black. I tried to boot with the original system discs and the drive wont let me put the disc in. The power button is lit, but the only thing running is the fan. Out of warranty, and hoping to find a fix that I can do to restart. Help? Thanks.

Well, with my MacBook, similar problem arose. Power button would activate fan for 3-4 seconds and everything would turn off before getting the screen on. Took it to an authorized repair specialist and long story short after letting it sit for 24-36 hours it worked. Apparently some sort of extended sleep mode. Not sure if this is the same problem but figured I'd leave my input.
