My imac is quiet pretty much all the time, every rare occasion I'll hear the harddrive but it's always quiet.

Some reason though when using handbrake for my dvds, the computer isn't as quiet. Is this normal or should be I be concerned?

This is normal as the fans are cooling the computer more as you are creating more heat.

Oh ok. I had a feeling that might of been the reason, but just wanted to make sure, thanks.

If you install the iStat nano widget and monitor it when running handbrake you should notice a substantial increase in temps.

Handbrake taxes the CPU, so the computer will naturally heat up.
