iMac for audio production

Hello,

I am planning to buy an imac for my audio projects.

I will use Reason, Cubase, ProTools etc.

I thought this specs. is good for me

• 4.2GHz quad-core 7th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz
• 16GB 2400MHz DDR4
• 1TB SSD
• Radeon Pro 575 with 4GB video memory
  
  My question is: are those specs "too good" for those softwares? Can i5, Fusion drive and 8 gb ram handle or not?

Assuming this is the 5K 27" iMac you're referring to...

You should be able to make do with the low end iMac with some changes. The i5, 1TB SSD, and 8 GB of memory with the standard graphics card should all be OK for what you intend to use the machine for. You can always add memory later on if you so desire. Apple memory is overpriced. Stay away from a Fusion drive. Pure flash storage is the way to go.

Now, if you're into video editing, processing, and so forth, then the better specs are certainly warranted.

I remember using Logic Pro X with no problems on even the entry-level Mac mini from 2011. (I'm not sure whether Logic is super-optimized to take advantage of the Mac's technologies, but I'm guessing you'll be more than fine.)
