iMac for gaming

I have an opportunity to buy this iMac from a friend :

iMac 21.5 LED/2.5GHZ Quad-Core Intel Core i5/4GB/500GB/SuperDrive/AMD Radeon HD 6750

How is this specs for gaming ?

I would love to play Skyrim at max resolution and with some mods .

If you buy it to have a mac with some gaming, ok.
But if you buy it for gaming in mind, it's not a great gaming computer.
The 6750M will run skyrim fine, but it will have issues with high res and mods at 1920x1080, if someone tells you otherwise, well, don't believe them.

A 6770M 3Dmark06 around 10k (for DX9 performance tests), and around 6K for 3DMark Vantage PGPU. Compare that to a 2009 GPU, like my aging GTX285, which does 3DMark06 at around 18k and Vantage PGPU on around 13k.

The 6770M is capable of gaming, but it is still half the speed of a $200 Video Card like the GTX560.

According to toms hardware the 6700M series are about equal to the aging GeForce 8800GT:

I play games (new and old) on my 27" iMac with the 6970 2gb. Runs 'em great. Minimum of 1920x1080 at 60fps, and full res (with full AA) on UE3 and Source games.

I can't imagine the 6750 to be too far behind. And you will need to install Bootcamp and Windows to get the best gaming performance out of it.

How much is he charging you to buy it?

If it is anywhere close to full price then you would be as well saving up for a few months and waiting on the updated iMac's.

Get a two button mouse

You will need to buy a two button mouse, put the apple one in a drawer. I recommend the Razer DeathAdder.

I ended up paying $900

I can't play with my macbook pro 2010 but with this iMac I can play Skyrim and is running great and using mods that I can't use in my xbox .

I couldn't be more happy with this computer

Why couldn't you play it on your macbook pro 2010?

6750M will be fine for light gaming at low / medium settings in most games. Using it solely as a gaming machine would be disappointing. It would perform worse than my 5 years old PC.

I found the graphic card 320M slow for some new games and gave up trying to play skyrim on boot camp and other games had to the lower settings to get decent frame rate .

I am not a hardcore gamer and this iMac will be enough for the games I want to play .

Where as game suggestions give a somewhat clue, I can assure you that Ultra settings on a 6750M will give you less than 30 FPS.

Ultra settings on my GTX285 give me a 40-50FPS, and a GTX285 is still about twice as fast as the 6750M.
(I run at 1680x1050)

Well first off, hey cluthz

Second, I was using ryno's original skyrim port (the first time it came out) and when I started it up, the game suggested that due to my specs, I should use Ultra settings. I never was really going into playing it, but I still have it on one of my file hosting accounts
