Hi all, new here, been lurking for a while, finally decided to register.

So, my current pc is a E4300 overclocked @3.2ghz, 4gbs ddr2 i'm finally realizing it's not enough, plus i'm sick of windows problems.

An 27" imac seems to be the answer.

I intend to run logic, synthogy ivory for piano, trilian for bass, ezdrummer and possibly some vienna instruments. I might record guitar ocasionaly.

8gbs i know i need because of all the samples, but should i go with the i5 or the i7? is it worth the 200+?

I don't plan on doing much gaming so that's not a problem, just don't want the cpu to overload like it happens on my current pc at times.

Any advice is welcome.

Especially for the type of work you'll be using it for, the i7 is very much worth it. It hyperthreads up to 8 virtual cores while the i5 doesn't have the hyperthreading technology so it would only work as a quad core.

My first though was the i7, just wondering if i could save some money:D

Probably will go for the i7;
Ram and ssd drive are upgradable, so no problem there.
