Last week it was rumored that there would be an iMac freeze fix-probably a hardware fix-this week. Does anyone have any updates? I'd rather not buy an iMac just before the fix comes out. Thanks.

The people that were spreading those rumors last week were spreading lies...
I called them out on it in another thread.

I don't think anyone knows for sure right now.

Ironically, a software fix for the freezing iMacs did get released today and so far (4 hours or so for me) it is so, sooo good. I haven't been able to reproduce any of the easily produceable freezing points. Not to mention I haven't seen any artifacting yet either! I'm a happy camper.

Yep... I email Steve Jobs (sjobs@apple.com) on Monday and got a reply within 30minutes stating a fix would be out by the end of the week. Well, today we got a firmware update. So I guess whoever is manning sjobs@apple.com was correct.

I forgive you. The update has been released!

Please, it didn't take Nostradamus to predict that Apple would be addressing these issues in the immediate future. The outcry was beginning to get press and all indicators were pointing to hardware in a large percentage of the problem machines.

I'm glad to see initial reports indicate this update has cured the freezing for a lot of those who were suffering.

True

True, but I was being accused of false info. I only said what I was told by an Apple employee.

Making it seem as if you had inside info (which you didn't)

You said it was going to come out last Wed, then it was last Fri.

An update was released today which is more than a week from you original claim.

Your claim is like saying, it is going to rain sometime in the future.... It is bound to happen...

Everyone knew Apple would have some sort of fix... We just didn't know when.

Well, let's just move on from here. And, yes I did have inside info, and yes, it turned out to be true. Just a little late.

I could say Apple will release 10.5.2 tomorrow, and that I have inside info, then I could keep pushing back the date, saying that it was delayed...

And soon enough it would turn out to be "true."

P.S. Talking to an Apple employee is NOT inside info.

Yes, since some would consider Apple retail employees Apple employees ... and they know about as much as a McDonald's fry cook knows about the inner working of the clown.

Yeah.

You could, but you didn't. The Apple employee is also one who was working on this issue directly. Besides, I am not the only one who was saying it would be out that week. And, if you look at my original post you will see that I was correct in saying it was related to the graphics card. Notice that Apple updated the firmware... I remember your post urging everyone this was a hardware issue and needed to be taken in for repair. Hmm. How good was your advice?

The issue is that you should not be slamming 'newbies' who are just trying to contribute for the good of this forum. Remember, you were also a newbie at one time as well.

Can we just get past this?

Okay...

Well then, Apple will release 10.5.2 tomorrow guys!

I should be right in about a month or so.... Then I can say, I told you so.
