imac freezes on wake up

i know that freezing imacs are a common issue but i have tried everything under the sun to fix this problem but to no avail.

whenever i manually put it to sleep, it will become unresponsive upon waking up forcing me to press the power button behind to restart the whole computer. oh, btw, it can't auto sleep anymore.

i've sent it to apple 3 times. changed the graphic card once(different problem) and mother board twice. after they changed the mother board is when the problem started. i sent it again, and they changed it again which fixes the problem. however, the imac locks up again the following week. i really can't pinpoint the problem. i tried removing my ram, putting in a new one, reset the SMC, zapping the PRAM but nothing seems to work.

i really would like to avoid sending it again coz i've had enough of their incompetence. by right, they should just give me a new unit and get it over with. i have a busy schedule and i frequently require my mac. anyone with similar problem that can enlighten me?

if it's not the ram, not the logic board, not the graphic card, what else is there? couldn't be the power supply and surely not the dvd drive. reinstalling leopard doesn't work either

Did you try disconnecting any external peripherals that you may have connected to it?

i disconnected everything. printer, modem, external hard disk and speaker. i can't disconnect my keyboard coz then i wouldn't be able to wake up the mac

That's weird I would definitely argue with them and request that they replace it for a brand new one since you already had multiple trips for the same issue. A little threat to report them to the Attorney General is always a good way to get your point across too

when i asked them about one to one replacement, they seem very reluctant to do so. maybe i should exercise a bit of threat as if it works. anyway, i'm going to try calling the store again requesting for a replacement. i really can't afford sending my imac now since i need it for college. i'll just have to live with the freezing problem for now
