After taking the IMAC to the Genius Bar, I was told to reinstall the OS. Listed below is what I'm experiencing and was hoping someone has an easier fix. Thanks.
1. Command (Apple button)/Tab key stroke not working
2. Other key strokes requiring the command (like to save or print) or tab is working, just not those two together
3. Tried to eject a disk using right click and select eject disk. Did not work after 2 attempts. I checked the Activity Monitor and is 1GB of free space. I don't have anything open at the moment. 3rd attempt it did eject.
4. Got frustrated with the quirks and tried to restart.
5. 1st attempt didn't do anything. No error message, it just didn't respond.
6. 2nd attempt I did get the error message about the printer proxy failing to quit. I closed it and tried to restart again. No luck, same message.
7. Next tried to log off and that didn't work. Everything on my desktop went away but nothing was logged off. I could still get into the network and all applications.
8. Next tried to shut down and the error message said the Finder failed to quit.
9. No when I open Thunderbird to continue this email, I'm missing some normally available options.
Nothing I have done has generated a successful restart. I will have to do a hard shut down.
