Any Idea when Amazon will stock them. I would prefer to order there since I can get it slightly cheaper than apple. I qualify for PPAs netowork discount, so I can get a 1699 model for under 1600 bucks. I am not near an apple store (springfield MO) so I cant go pick one up. I plan on over nighting it to me. and amazon is much cheaper.

Any Idea if Amazon would have them today?

What is the cut off time for over night orders for Apple.com?

Check out Macmall instead...

Drew,

I would consider buying from Macmall instead. They offer free shipping and their prices are lower or equal to Amazon. I've never had a bad experience with them. They also have very friendly customer support if you need to check on your order or modify it. Call them if you want a better discount.

Regards,

Sammy Cat

I am familiar with mac mall, however I plan on sticking with either apple or amazon for 2 reasons. I get a PPA discount through apple. (better than student rates.)

I am also an amazon prime member..meaning no sales tax and 4 bucks for overnight shipping.

Just got done talking with mac mall.... they shouldnt have them in stock til next week.

Just thought I would let you know.

When the new Macbook Pros came out a couple months ago Amazon had them in stock three days after Apple released them. If that is any comparison.

Yeah, I'm waiting for Amazon to get them as well. No tax and $4 overnight shipping is the bomb.

Yup, it will probably be the case this time. i called amazon and asked and the guy kept trying to sell me the i3 for the same price. I politely declined :)

Looks like it will be APPLE only this week. I ordered mine from Apple and will have it shipped overnight (Cheaper than driving 500 miles to and from the nearest apple store.)

I tried to order from MacMall to get the no sales tax plus hopefully swap the mouse for the trackpad (even though they don't have it as a configuration choice like Apple does), but they informed me that they have to charge sales tax in my state (IL). I'll be waiting til Amazon has it then and do the prime overnight shipping as well. Can't wait! But I will. :p

Amazon now lists the new iMacs on their site if you search by model number. They show up as Preorders though, which is odd. Plus, they prices are only $5 lower than from Apple, which is really weird. I know with the new MBPs, the prices stayed the same.

Hopefully it's only because these are kind of like "stub" entries and the prices will return to "normal" when they are actually available for purchase. Here are all the listings (all non-BTO of course):

iMac 21.5" Base

iMac 21.5" Top

iMac 27" Base

iMac 27" Top

Awesome, thanks for that fellow North Carolinian! (born and raised in Winston-Salem) I went ahead and did the preorder of the base 27".

Sure thing! :)

I added the iMac to my cart and found this encouraging:

My guess is the price will drop back down to what it was ($1929? $1939?) before the refresh once they are actually shipping.

I thought Amazon's prices were always a few dollars cheaper than Apple.
