If you are going with SSD, get a 1TB one. I bought an iMac with a 2TB Fusion drive, because Apple wants two much for even a 1TB SSD, and I need at least 2TB of space on the internal drive. What I will do when the warranty is over is to replace the Fusion drive with a 2TB SSD. But for now the Fusion drive is fine with me. I did the same with my 2011 iMac's 2TB HD (replaced with a 1TB SSD for a little over $100.00). Still using it for photo editing.I am also wondering this. the 2TB and 3TB Fusion drive have 128GB SSD partitions so I am thinking this might be ok but just not sure if I should do that or get the 512 SSD?
same here. If getting an SSD should it be a small 256 or 512 and store photos etc on an external?
Cheap out? 512Gb of internal storage is equivalent to being cheap when compared to 2TB of internal storage that a Fusion drive brings, not the other way around. It’s thanks to people like you spreading false information about Fusion drives being bad etc without having any sense of what it’s like to use an iMac equipped with one.SSD. No reason to cheap out in 2019.
Going to get 2019 iMac and can’t decide if I should get a Fusion Drive it SSD ?
