I started with a 2012 with the original fusion drive, upgraded to a 3tb with he 128gb SSD portion.
Since I have been through 1 HD recall that got me a new 3tb Drive.
I purchased a 2014 Retina 27inch iMac, I had a local Apple reseller replace the HD and Fusion drive into the 2014. Than I upgraded to a Late 2015 and again had the HD and SSD transferred.
A few questions I have. Is it probably a bad Idea to be running a 2015 with technically a 2012's Fusion SSD in that model? Would I be better off with speed to have kept the 2015's 32gb SSD? Or am I thinking about this completely wrong?
I currently have a 512 SSD out of a 2014 MacBook Pro and thinking about going ahead and putting that in the 2015 iMac with the 3tb Drive and having the Apple shop meld them together as a fusion.
Am I assuming correctly I could really put any SSD inside the iMac for the SSD portion of the fusion drive? Am I losing anything by not using the preferred iMac SSD they put in them from factory for that model?
On possibly a unrelated note, But has brought me to question it, The computer since the transfer of internals has been having wake from sleep issues. It used to freeze upon wake so I changed the way it wakes from sleep in terminal to "25" I believe and the problem has stopped, it is just slow waking from sleep now. Other sleep problems is I will come back to the computer after it puts itself to sleep to a black screen with a circle and line through it. From what I have read it appears a reload of the operating system may be necessary (which I have done once) I do have time machine backups and may wipe and reload everything again just to see if anything gets cleared up. Last night within 5 minutes of putting it to sleep, I couldn't get it to wake, it froze than restarted to the circle with the line.
The iMac is within AppleCare so I question buying the 32gb SSD (apple part 661-03526) installing and having it taken care of by them to put original parts back into the unit. Or do I even bother and just upgrade the SSD to the 512 that I have. I aim at a crossroad.
Sorry about all the info and thanks for any help anyone can lend.
