Hi All,
I have an iMac G3 Bondi with tray loading CD drive (I believe it is known as Apple iMac G3 333 (Fruit Colors)). I was trying to update MacOS as it had 8.5 and I wanted to update it to MacOS 9 to take advantage of usb storage devices.
I went to the Macintosh Repository and downloaded the Mac OS 9.0.4 CD, burned it and then loaded it into my iMac. I started the machine up by holding 'c', it booted up and show the MacOS 9 install screen and ran for about 10-15mins. It then came up with an error, I didnt note it but it said something like 'error 102 (i think it was 102, not 100% positive), then something about trying again by holding shift on boot to disable something'. On next boot the iMac chimed, the power button went green and monitor made its turning on sound (CRT) but then the power butten went orange and screen stayed black. this is all I get now, even after some troubleshooting.
Things I have tried.
Thanks.

- Clear PRAM (option + command + P + R, 20 seconds ~approx 3 chimes)
- 'Open Firmware' command screen (option + command + O + F) then typed reset-nvram, set-defaults and reset-all. So this key combo does work and allows the computer to display a picture but I am not familiar with what this command screen can do
- I have also used a paperclip and pressed the reset PMU button on the side (while the iMac was off but plugged in, waited 10 seconds then powered on)
- I downloaded MacOS 8.6 and tried to boot with the same black screen and orange power button
- I have recently replaced the battery inside the machine so I know it works (not sure if that matters)
Thanks.
